Great fun! Great workout! Promotes great mind body coordination.

Taking classes with Christina is one of the very best things about living in Santa Fe. Classes are varied (strength training; ballet; and the unparalleled "just dance," which is a joyous combination of jazz, hip-hop, ballet, and you-name-it). The teachers are pros who continually update their classes with new choreography and music. The students are friendly and interesting. One of the best things about THE STUDIO is that its classes are just plain fun and, rather than watching the clock for them to be over, you are sorry when they end.

Christina has inspired me to dance as an artistic expression. Her teaching style and her ability to communicate the body’s wisdom transformed my body alignment and sense of soulful self expression. She brings technique, humor, great music and fun into dance. I love choreographing and teaching dance because of her!

For many years, I took Jazzercise classes but when I found Studio East in the late 80’s, which is now THE STUDIO, I knew I found the perfect fit for me. I go to three dance classes and two Cardio Sculpt classes a week. I actually feel cheated if I miss a class. I love the core strength that the Cardio class gives me so that at 67, I can keep dancing. The dance routines are created with a wide variety of music. The instructors are the very best. If they can teach me to dance they can teach anyone to dance. The only way to get a good workout is to do something you love and I love the classes.

I started going to this class back in the 80's when it was called 'Gotta Dance'. My daughter was recently born and I thought this would be a fun way to get back in shape. Well I was in for a surprise as it was so much more with the compelling music and moves and the feeling like you're really dancing and in harmony with a group of people. I stuck with it and worked my way up to becoming an instructor.
I did move out of state (couldn't find anything like it anywhere else by the way) and after returning 10+ years later, I started taking class again and was able to pick it up relatively quickly as the choreography, though not boring, is simple enough to learn and master…. so good for the mind as well.
I am an instructor again and cannot say enough about the benefits of this program. I also do the cardio sculpt class which really deals with targeting and toning muscle through out the body. I am in my mid 60's and although some aging is inevitable, I am in the best shape of my life. This dance fitness program has changed my life. You just have to show up for the class and stick with it.

I first started 11 years ago right after my mother died. I was feeling sad and disoriented and looking for an activity that would get me in my body and distract me from my depression. So I bought an intro pass at The Studio and starting taking Just Dance. To be honest, initially I wasn’t sure whether the classes were working for me. The steps were all new and my focus wasn’t the greatest. I had recently moved to Santa Fe from sea level and couldn’t keep up aerobically. Sometimes I walked out of class in tears, not sure exactly why I was crying. Yet there was something…..And so I stayed on, taking 3 or 4 classes per week, never really making a conscious decision to attend, driving to and from class on autopilot. In time, the healing happened, my depression lifted, I learned the steps and routines – and suddenly - there was just the pure joy of moving my body to great
music in a supportive community.
